In a bid to develop consensus on mega water reservoirs, President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday held discussions with political representatives of Siindh government, it is learnt. Sources said that the meeting was attended by Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi, beside the Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh.

Though nothing has been said officially about what transpired in the meeting, government circles were of the view that it was in connection with developing political consensus on the contentious issue of Kalabagh dam. However, some administrative issues relating to the province were also discussed.

An official, when contacted, said, "I can only confirm that a meeting was held on water issues, but do not know about the participants or anything else."

Islamabad -based journalists also reached Sindh House to have comments from Chief Minister Ghulam Rahim, but he was apparently not willing to meet them. His staff informed the journalists that the Chief Minister was fasting and, after breaking the fast, he would take rest.

The telephone attendant of Minister for Water and Power Jatoi replied to almost all journalists that he was out with some of his friends, which meant that there was no credible information available to the journalists on the issues discussed in the ''meeting''.
